About Nellie

Hi, I'm Nellie. I'm so glad you found me.

I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and EMDR-certified therapist born and raised right here in the Rio Grande Valley. I built this practice because I believe everyone deserves a space where they feel truly seen — not just heard.

My story

Growing up as a first-generation Mexican American in the RGV, I learned early what it means to carry things quietly. To hold your family together while quietly falling apart. To navigate two cultures, two languages, and two sets of expectations — all at once.

That experience is exactly why I became a therapist. I wanted to create the space I wish I'd had — warm, bilingual, culturally grounded, and completely judgment-free. A place where you don't have to translate yourself.

I speak English, Spanish, and yes — even a little TexMex. Because sometimes the word you need just doesn't exist in one language. And that's okay here.

My approach

Therapy that meets you where you are.

I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to healing. Every person who walks through my door brings a unique story, and I tailor my work to fit yours. I draw from evidence-based modalities — including EMDR, CBT, and strengths-based therapy — while always keeping the human being in front of me at the center.

Culturally grounded

I understand the unique pressures of growing up between cultures — the guilt, the pride, the complexity. You won't have to explain that here.

Trauma-informed

Everything I do is rooted in an understanding of how trauma lives in the body and shapes our lives. Healing is possible — and it doesn't have to hurt more to get there.

Bilingual & bicultural

Sessions available in English and Spanish. Express yourself in whatever language feels most natural — or both at once.

Warm & direct

I'm not a blank wall. I show up as a real person — warm, honest, and occasionally funny. Therapy doesn't have to be stiff to be effective.
